A trip to Bréhat

Your escapade on the island of Bréhat, the most beautiful island in Brittany

An unmissable site in the Côtes-d'Armor in northern Brittany, located a few kilometers from the fishing port of Paimpol in the direction of Ploubazlanec. Arrived at the tip of Arcouest, the majestic island of Bréhat stands in front of you. The Bréhat Archipelago is made up of a main island 3.5 kilometers long and 1.5 kilometers wide and 86 islets and reefs adjoining it. First classified natural site in France, the island of Bréhat is accessible by boat.

Visit of the island of Bréhat in the Côtes-d'Armor

Its visit is made on foot or by bicycle (motor vehicles are prohibited). Take the paths laid out off the main streets, they will take you from the port to the Paon lighthouse. These walks along the paths will reveal many coves and beaches.
We advise you to visit the Archipelago preferably in spring or autumn: then less frequented, the island of Bréhat shows off its luxuriant nature in mild weather.

Bréhat, the island of flowers

Thanks to the influence of the Gulf Stream which leads to the formation of a mild microclimate in winter, multitudes of varieties of flowers and plants can flourish on the island of Bréhat :

  • Exotic plants like agave or echium
  • Flowers like hydrangeas, mimosa, mulberry, eucalyptus, aloe or camellia
  • The queen flower, the agapanthus, has a purple-blue bloom from April to September

The island of corsairs and American fishermen

With a varied and rich heritage, the tourist site of the island of Bréhat embodies a maritime and military history.
This is an opportunity to visit the Pont ar Prad (building made by Vauban), the citadel of the Verreries de Bréhat with its glassblower workshops.
